Instrument Warranties & Guarantees

All instruments provided by Medical + Optical’s suppliers are guaranteed to be free from defects in workmanship and material if used for their intended purpose and the manufacturer’s care and maintenance instructions are adhered to.

Any instruments which are found to be defective in workmanship and material not caused by fair wear and tear, will either be repaired or replaced free of charge at our discretion. This guarantee does not cover neglect, misuse and/or any modifications undertaken by the Purchaser.

Instrument Maintenance Programme

The expected service life of instruments can span between six and twenty years, depending upon design, usage and care and handling.

Whole Life Cycle of Instruments

Medical + Optical strongly believe that the successful maintenance of a “Whole Life Instrument Programme” is a combination of the following:

• The quality of instruments purchased
• The level of service offered by the supplier and manufacturer
• Adherence to current standards and recommended guidelines, such as CHRISP recommendations
• Regular in-servicing programmes and visits from our company representatives

Cleaning and Sterilisation

Manufacturer’s recommendations and IFU for the care, maintenance and sterilisation of their surgical instruments are available.

KLS Martin is one of the permanent working group authors/contributors to the highly respected and internationally acclaimed ‘Red Book’ entitled Instrument Processing. This publication is endorsed by the World Forum for Hospital Sterile Supply and is used extensively with the reprocessing and maintenance of surgical instruments.
